Field Oversight Intern

Location: Central Indiana (1) and Charlotte, NC area (1)
Date: Summer 2018

Description:

  • Assist Senior Staff during field oversight and inspection services for all stages of new construction or maintenance projects for environmental, transmission & distribution lines and substations.

  • Assist Senior Staff to prepare and maintain project updates, ensure accuracy and timeliness of field observations, inspection records, pre-job briefs, project documentation and files, and construction reports.

  • Assist in training staff on iPad (MS Office Suites, Drop Box, etc.)

  • Assist in documenting safety measures as well as demonstrate safe work habits.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Current standing as a Junior/Senior student actively enrolled in an accredited Engineering Undergraduate or Graduate Program. GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering or Construction Management Methods, materials and equipment used in transmission, distribution and substation projects; identify occupational hazards and safety precautions in construction areas; principles of record keeping and records management; current knowledge is preferable.

  • Experience working in the field on construction sites is preferable. Actual field construction experience in any capacity will be given preference.

  • OSHA 10 hour {preferred) or trained during internship

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of iPad and iPhone and the ability to assist Senior Staff with computer, tablet and Smart Phone techniques. *iOS and other applications including MS Office, Adobe, WPS, and cloud storage applications.

  • AutoCad experience a plus.

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions in varying temperatures/walk on uneven terrain.

  • Must possess strong communication skills, be punctual, a self-starter & hardworking

  • Safely operate a motor vehicle and navigate across even and uneven surfaces.

    • Position requires a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy.
